"Forever young, I want to live forever young..."
Alphaville
Tell the truth, you read the title of this article while humming. And so, if you remember this song, I suggest you read on because maybe you will discover something interesting. I, as a good 50-year-old, remember the song well, and in recent years I have made it my mantra because if growing old is part of the natural evolution of human beings, aging well is a choice you make every day. It is a decision, your decision.
I hope I haven't deterred you from reading now that I have included a word that, let's face it, is a bit repelling: growing old.
Yet it is normal, it is life! And the advancing years need not frighten you and that your mental and physical well-being is still all in your hands.
The strategy for living long and healthy is to have an active lifestyle, a balanced diet, and to eliminate altogether or at least limit some bad habits such as alcohol and smoking.
But there is something more we can do to support ourselves in this difficult passage of "middle age"-we can support our bodies with nutritional supplements that compensate for the physiological deficiencies we are experiencing.
Vitamins and minerals, for example, when taken in the correct amounts can help prevent or even make up for nutritional deficiencies and help us boost our natural energy. They are found in so many foods, it is true, but we are not always able to cover our daily needs through our diet.
But is this enough? A supplement of vitamins and minerals to regain the energy of your 20s. For some people yes, perhaps, but for me no! The real breakthrough in terms of well-being, good mood and vitality for me was the combination of the vitamins and minerals with supplementation of medicinal plants with beneficial properties for the body. First and foremost is Ashwaganda, an ancient remedy from the Asian phytotherapeutic tradition and, in particular from Ayurvedic natural medicine, which has always used it for its tonic qualities acting on the nervous system, muscular, respiratory and reproductive systems. In addition to Ashwaganda, I became passionate about studying several medicinal plants that are in common use in Eastern medicines, such as Rodhiola Rosea and Ginko Biloba, tried them on their own and in combination with each other or with other compounds, and eventually arrived at a perfect formulation, the one that has literally revived me and is leading me to experience a second youth.
I do not know if I will continue to feel forever young in the years to come however, I, now, am enjoying this age. Because the physical energy and mental clarity of when I was a boy is now joined by the awareness of one who has already seen so much of life, the good and the bad. And has chosen to start each day only from the good.
