ROUTINE: PERSEVERANCE AND GOOD HABITS

"AND WHEN YOU THINK IT'S OVER, THAT'S WHEN THE CLIMB BEGINS... WHAT A FANTASTIC STORY LIFE IS."

Now that we have seen what we need to do to achieve our main goal and thus return to feeling energized and optimistic, it is time to address one of the main critical issues we will face on our way to an active and dynamic life.

I am talking about perseverance, a very important, I would say fundamental word when we want to change something.

In fact, I think perseverance is the great secret to changing our lives, but at the same time, it is one of the biggest obstacles. Let's face it, we are all good about waking up early a couple of mornings to do some exercises or giving up an ingredient in our diet for a few days, the real problem is, once we get over the initial euphoria associated with doing some new and healthy things, having the perseverance to continue on what is a real path to a new self.

So how do we persevere in the good habits we are gradually discovering?

I'll tell you another magic word that you will surely know: routine, the real secret to achieving the longed-for perseverance. Because persevering in good habits is crucial to changing our perception of ourselves and the way we interact with the world around us.

To achieve this we must then create a routine of good habits capable of making us "stay the course" (stay the course), and thus build our new reality, our new self, the best version of ourselves. Because, and what I am telling you I really mean, the more we are faithful to our routine, the more we will become aware of our great possibilities. The more we test our limits, the more easily we will overcome them once, twice, three times -- and, trial after trial, we will realize that there is no limit to which we cannot go.

Let me give you an example: if I go to the gym, I will not see results after a couple of times, but only after months, if not years. That's the case with everything we've said so far on topics like diet, using supplements, and exercise.

But now don't demoralize yourself because, fortunately, in addition to the supports we get from Mother Nature, we have another ally right inside us: endorphin, a chemical produced by the brain and endowed with powerful analgesic and arousing activity.

In fact, if yours is a medium-term goal, that doesn't mean that, in the meantime, every time you go to the gym you won't get an immediate benefit precisely because of the release of endorphins post-workout. The same thing will happen to you at the dinner table when, for example, you refuse the dessert that has just been offered to you. If the long-term benefit will be getting your body used to giving up those poisons like sugar and thus healing it and giving it a chance to live more, in the immediate term you will also have the benefit of increasing your self-esteem precisely because you will have tested your will. And you will have won.

On the journey to wellness, we are never alone. Perseverance, routine, and endorphins are ready to set out with us and keep us company all along the way, supporting us when we are tired and pushing us forward when the goal seems too far away.
