STRESS

"WHAT STRESS, WHAT STRESS DURING THE DAY... BUT NOT AT NIGHT!"

Do you remember that program that made us laugh so much as kids and somehow revolutionized Italian TV in the 1980s? Yes, that's right, "Those of the Night!"

Then you'll also remember that little song that was the opening theme song and it went just like this, "What a stress, what a stress, what a stress during the day, but not at night!" Here, I was reminded of this refrain because I was thinking that for me, on the other hand, for the past few years, stress gives me no respite, neither during the day nor at night, and although this does not console me, the same happens to so many of my friends and peers.

I have tried to understand why, and I told myself that it is in the middle of the walk of our lives that we find ourselves facing, sometimes even unconsciously, one of the hardest moments from a psychological point of view. Around the age of 40, some of the certainties we have built up to that point crumble, someone suddenly finds himself having to reinvent himself in both work and family, and in any case, even if everything continues to flow in the best of ways, we begin to look back to become aware of what has been accomplished or not. Is it the so-called midlife crisis? Perhaps. Surely it is also a combination of factors that leads to increased stress levels in our bodies. We feel as if we can no longer keep up with the pace of when we were young, and it depresses us that we no longer have the energy to do so. In short, it's a bit of a dog biting its own tail: we have a hard time accepting ourselves at this time of transition, and because of this we are increasingly stressed both physically and psychologically. On the other hand, I am certainly not the first to say "mens sana in corpore sano"! Ours is a perfect organism, but for it to remain so it must be cared for and oiled in every part. My personal experience? Here, I dealt with my crisis both from a purely biological point of view, counteracting the natural decrease in testosterone in a completely natural way, and from a mental and emotional point of view by becoming aware of the problem and deciding to seek a solution.

Taking care of yourself is not as difficult as it seems! One step at a time, starting with giving proper importance to nutrition and exercise. Increased energy, regained muscle tone already make us feel better and give us the impetus to move forward and try to take action on stress in a deeper way. How? I did it by learning to change my perspective on the analysis of my personal history: I realized that I had to give importance to the achievements rather than the efforts and falls to get them, that I had to enjoy only my successes by leaving failures behind, with no more recriminations.

Stress is a silent but very strong enemy, especially at crucial moments of our existence. An enemy that can be defeated if you fight it together with allies such as lifestyle, nutrition, and supplements. But never forget one thing, the first ally of yourself, to win against stress, is yourself.
